Blessed

The day before yesterday I was sitting with Sudha and she was telling me about Brahmanandam, the top comedian in Telugu cinema. He was a Telugu teacher before he entered films, a good one. Sudha knows one of his former students. He now earns 2 lakhs per day, which is equivalent to about $4,000. I told Sudha, "I'd like to get $4,000 a day someday," mostly to show that I appreciated that that was a lot of money.

"You will. You definitely will; I've blessed you for it," Sudha said.

What do you say to that? Thank you very much, I guess.

  1. I get $4,000 a day...I'm just required to work the other 29 days in the month for free in order to get it!

Is it Brahmanandam who earns the $4,000 a day, or the former student?

If it is Brahmanandan who earns the money, do they just hire him for a day or two per movie to film his part, and he has to do 10 movies a year to make ends meet?

  2. The thought of Bramanandam only doing 10 movies a year made me laugh. He seems to show up in a quarter of the films I watch.

  3. Have you thought about becoming a lawyer? You could charge $250/hour and bill your clients for 16 hour days. Not sure that is so much of a blessing, however.

  4. It's Brahmanandan who gets all that money.

I don't really know how they film his parts. I suppose just hiring him for a few days might be it, though. Maybe that's why the comedy side-plots sometimes intersect with the main plot so little.

And no, I haven't really thought of being a lawyer. That kind of money, although it would be nice, is not half so important to me as a lot of other things, so the chances of it ever being reality are pretty slim. I mean, unless Sudha's blessings are super powerful.

  6. brahmanadam earned a spot in the Guinness World Records for acting in 754 Telugu films in 20 years.[1] It is because no actor in the whole world has ever performed the feat of acting in so many films in just 20 years, in just one language.
